Ein britischer Kampfpanzer Centurion Mk 8 Serie 2 von Airfix. Der Centurion Mk 8/2 war ein kampfwertgesteigerter Mk 8 mit der neuen 105 mm Panzerkanone L/51 Vickers L7. Seine Leistung ähnelte der des israelischen Kampfpanzers Sho’t, einem Centurion Mk 3 oder Mk 5 mit der wirkungsvollen 105 mm Panzerkanone L7. Im Sechstagekrieg 1967 kamen 239 Kampfpanzer vom Typ Sho’t zum Einsatz, und die israelischen Streitkräfte (IDF) erbeuteten weitere 30 der 44 jordanische Tariq (Centurion). Die Verbesserungen der Centurion Mk 8/1 und Mk 8/2 wurden später im F.V. 4017 Centurion Mk 10 standardisiert, der 1959 eingeführt und 1961 unter anderem nach Schweden verkauft wurde.

The Centurion tank was introduced at the end of World-War Two und it remains in service in several countries even today. The Israel Defence Force converted many Centurion tanks to heavily armoured infantry fighting vehicles when their turrets were damaged beyond repair. Upon the introduction of the new Merkava 4 tank, on 3 October 2002, the IDF phased out its last Centurion MBTs which had been relegated to reserve formations since the late 1980s.
